The Trade Council i DACHs Water Technology Advisory: Sewer Systems Platform

The majority of the German sewer system (total about 540,000 km) is publicly owned and maintained. As one third is getting increasingly obsolete, a big focus is on retrofitting. In general, German states desire to increase digitization and to optimize the maintenance and repair work of sewage systems that Germany faces.

The leakage level in the Danish water infrastructure is among the lowest worldwide (average loss <10%), due to strong technologies and large experience in production and maintenance of sewage systems. Also, there is a greater tendency in Denmark towards making use of technology that makes it possible to control pump stations and basins digitally. The level of digitization and use of technology within the sewerage industry in Denmark makes it one of the most innovative and optimized in the world.
