Commercial Advisor – District Energy
As Commercial Advisor in the District Energy Team at the Royal Danish Consulate General in Hamburg, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality commercial and strategic advisory services for Danish companies in the energy sector.

About the Position
As Commercial Advisor in the District Energy Team at the Royal Danish Consulate General in Hamburg, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality commercial and strategic advisory services for Danish companies in the energy sector.
Your primary focus will be on district heating and decarbonisation of heat supply, where you will play a key role in identifying business opportunities, fostering partnerships, and advancing the green transition in Germany.
This position requires solid sector expertise, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work independently with both Danish and German companies, public authorities, and industry organizations. You will actively contribute to the Trade Council’s core objectives: value creation, client satisfaction, revenue generation, and market impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and implement client projects, including strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and reporting on results and commercial impact.
- Provide in-depth market and policy insights into the German district energy sector, identifying trends, opportunities, and barriers for Danish companies.
- Serve as the main contact point for Danish energy companies entering or expanding in the German market, offering tailored advisory and matchmaking support.
- Strengthen networks with German utilities, municipalities, project developers, and sector organisations to promote Danish solutions and expertise.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute workshops, delegation visits, and business events in col-laboration with Danish partners and local stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategic communication and branding of Danish district energy solutions under the Dänische Fernwärmeallianz platform.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and success stories that showcase Danish strengths and project achievements.
- Support the identification and development of cross-sector opportunities within the wider green transition and energy efficiency fields.
Additional Responsibilities:
As part of the Trade Council’s broader operations, you may be involved in cross-sector projects and other tasks that align with your expertise and contribute to the mission’s goals.
Your Profile:
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded professional who combines strong sec-tor knowledge with excellent communication and coordination skills.
Requirements:
- University degree in Engineering, Energy, Environmental Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in the energy sector, preferably within district heating, renewable energy, or energy transition projects.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management, business development, or market advisory.
- Solid understanding of the German energy market and policy framework.
- Fluency in German and English (proficiency in Danish or another Scandinavian language is an asset).
- Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel occasionally in Denmark and Germany.
