Head of Culture and Communication at the Danish Embassy in Berlin

General information about the position 
Unfortunately, our current Head of Communication and Culture has decided to move back to Denmark, and we are therefore looking for a new Head of our Culture and Communication Department. 
As Head of Culture and Communication, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Embassy's Culture, Communication and Press Department, which comprises four staff members and an intern. 

You will be responsible for the Embassy's political and cultural communication activities, including the Danish public diplomacy efforts in Germany, i.e. promoting awareness of Denmark and Danish society in all its diversity, especially on issues such as green transition and sustainability. In addition, you will be a central part of the communication of the Trade Council's activities in Berlin as well as at the Consulates General in Hamburg and Munich. 

Further, cultural partnerships are a priority for Denmark in Germany, where the aim is to establish collaborations between Danish and German cultural institutions that will lift cultural efforts into the future. In addition, the Head of Communication and Culture is also expected to initiate and implement cultural activities in Germany in close cooperation with German and Danish cultural operators.

Last but not least, together with the Embassy's communication and press team, you will ensure visibility on social media and be in close contact with the Danish and German press. The department's work also involves close contact with Danish and German ministries regarding communication tasks in Germany.

About the Danish Embassy in Berlin 
The Danish Embassy is the official representation of Denmark in Germany. The Communications, Culture and Press Department works together with the other departments at the Embassy and the Danish Consulates General in Germany to actively facilitate contacts, establish good networks and spread awareness of Denmark, Danish attitudes and Danish culture through a wide range of cultural activities, press contacts and active use of social media.

About you 
You have a relevant background/education in journalism, cultural communication, etc. In addition, you should have several of the following professional qualifications: 

You are well informed about Danish cultural and social issues, including Danish cultural institutions and Danish cultural policy. 
You have knowledge of German cultural and social life.  
You like to communicate and have professional experience in the use of social media and strategic communication.
You have relevant and proven management experience.  
You are a good collaborator and have strong interpersonal skills. 
You are resourceful, good at seeing opportunities - and turning them into reality.  
You have good interpersonal skills and like to represent Denmark.  
You are politically aware. 
You can work with external funding and manage finances.  
You can keep track of everything in a fast-paced working environment.  
You are practical. 
You are digitally minded.  
You are fluent in written and spoken German and Danish.

Terms 
Expected date of entry into service is 1 May 2023. The recruitment requires security clearance by the Danish authorities.

The position is limited in time to 2 years with the possibility of extension. Working hours are 37 hours per week. Employment is on local terms. Salary by individual agreement according to qualifications.
